TUESDAYS

DRAMA & PERFORMANCE

We have Drama & Performance group that encourages young people to fulfill and advance their interest in the elements of Drama & performance.
The program will involve young people writing and producing a play which will be showcased for National Youth week 2010 April 10-17. The play will respond to all roles, both acting and behind the scenes.
The Group meets every Tuesday afternoon from 5pm till 7:30pm, and it starts the January the 19th.
Bookings are essential, so if you are a young person who may be interested in participating then please do not hesitate in contacting the Visy Cares Hub on (03) 9091-8200.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY


Digital Photography is a program aimed to encourage young people to express themselves creatively through Photography. Participants will also use photoshop to enhance their photographs.
And all participants receive a camera to use for the duration of the program. There will be an exhibition of the photographs at the Visy Cares Hub for National Youth Week in April. WEDNESDAYS & THURSDAYS (ALL YEAR) 3:00-6:00 PM

HOMEWORK ZONE


The Visy Cares Hub Homework Zone gives young people who are currently attending secondary school or who may be wanting to go back to secondary school the opportunity to come and seek assistance from Youth Workers.
The youth workers will also be able to support young people who are requiring assisting with Homework. This will enable young people to use computers to complete homework as well as utilising the internet to assist with essays, reports, and any other school related work which requires research on the internet.
The youth workers will be able to assist with general enquires about a range of different school subjects, whilst helping those young people currenlty not in the education sector, back into school.
There will also be the opportunity to create resumes and look for part-time work.
Bookings are not essential for this service, however if you are a young person who may be requiring some one-on-one support from a youth worker, then please ring or email prior to ensure that a youth worker will be able to sit down with you to assist.

WEDNESDAYS

MIXED MEDIA ART


The Mixed Media Art Program is all about being expressive and experimental, and working together for a group exhibition for National youth week in April. The program will be run by a professional Artist who will provide support encouragement and inspiration! All young people are encouraged to attend and be creative! THURSDAYS

2010 INDOOR SOCCER PROGRAM


The 2010 Soccer program will begin Thursday February 11, at West Sunshine Community Centre. 25 Kermeen Street West Sunshine, starting from 6:15pm -8:15pm. Numbers are not limited with this program, however all people need to register prior to the starting date. This tournament is free to all young people males aged 12-25

FRIDAY

IS GIRLS DAY


Every Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm our Youth Space at the Visy Cares Hub is for YOUNG WOMEN only. This space is for young women to use the computers, socialize, read, listen to music and have some fun!. We also encourage young women who may need help with their CV's or Job applications to attend, as we have Youth Workers to assist.

All Programs are FREE for all young people



C Internet Use & Employment Search

Free Computer Use & Drop-In Service

The Visy Cares Hub has a 'Young Persons Program Room' where young people are able to utilise the free computers and internet for job search, school work, and email.

If you are a young person and would like to use the computers then please contact the Visy Cares Hub on (03)9091-8200, and book a time.

The Young Persons Program room is available 5 days a week, 9am - 5pm, however bookings need to be made.

Drama & Performance program 2009

Performance on Thursday November 26



The Drama and performance program will be performing a play called "Holka Polka"

"HOLKA POLKA" is a play about a good little witch who sets out to save Fairy Tale land, with the help of the Big Bad Wolf and Cinderella. This a Fairy Tale Mystery that puts a new twist on some famous fables such as Humpty Dumpty, Pinocchio, Little Red Riding Hood, The Wizard of Oz and Hansel and Gretel.

Creative Expression Art Program


Creative Expression gives young people, 12-25years, the opportunity to express themselves through art work. This artwork will then be displayed at the local art gallery which will be available for public viewing during National Youth Week (5th - 12th April 2008).
Places for this program are limited so if you are a young person and would love to show your artistic talents to the general public, as well as learning some great artistic skills from an artist, then please do not hesitate in contacting the Visy Cares Hub on (03)9091-8200, and sign-up today.

End of year Festival for Young People 2007

G Friday 14th December 2007

The Visy Cares Hub were the proud hosts of the End of Year Festival for All Young People from the West.

This event took place at the Visy Cares Hub on Friday the 14th December at 5pm.

FReeZa hosted the event and assisted with the organisation of it.



What we had during the evening:

  • Local Bands,

  • Free Food,

  • Raffles,

  • Open Mic,

  • Dance Competitions,

  • and lots more.

F National Youth Week 2008

5th April 2008 - 12th April 2008

The Visy Cares Hub hosted National Youth Week 2008.

The week was jammed pack with Sunshine Showtime and a massive Art Galary Opening celebrating the Art Work of Young People.

Programs that lead up to National Youth Week which enabled young people to showcase their skills included:

  • Creative Art,
  • Theatre,
  • Soocer Tournament,
  • and Hip Hop.



The Visy Cares Hub is currenlty looking for local agencies to get involved in order to work in partnership, as well as any young people who may be interested in attending the programs and/or assisting with the organisation of the event.

FREE portfolio & Interview preparation information session

Monday October 12 from 5-6:30pm

Have you applied? or have you considered applying for a course on Photography, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Multimedia Design or Fashion?

All these courses require an Interview and a portfolio. Be prepared and receive inside information about the interview process and what is expected in yout portfolio.
