‘International Day Against Homophobia’

Rob Murphy

Yesterday, Nick Duigan (Carlton Football Club), Rob Murphy (Western Bulldogs Football Club), and Daniel Jackson (Richmond Football Club) joined forces to celebrate the ‘International Day Against Homophobia’.

All three players helped to judge a competition where young people were encouraged to design a postcard based on the theme ‘In My Eyes’.

Headspace organised this very successful event and it was great to see Cameron Booth take out the prize for the best design. After the competition everyone joined in for a game of kick to kick and it was great to see so many young guys turn out for this very important day. Rob has promised that next year the guys can come down to watch a game of footy and join the team in the change rooms so as they can meet their heroes.

In order to celebrate and raise awareness of Mental Health Week, The Youth Junction Inc., in partnership with Victoria University Certificate III in Community Services Students, and headspace Western Melbourne, ran an amazing concert, and despite the torrential rain over 100 young people attended with their dancing shoes on.

Local bands: Carta Extremist, Jerome N, Hometown and Chasing Alice played to their fans for 4hours!
