History of The Youth Junction Inc.

The Youth Junction Inc. and the concept of a co-located youth agency developed over a ten year plan, whereby the board of directors who currently govern the Youth Junction Inc. came together and recognised the need for a 'hub' of services in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Putting all of their expertise together they managed to source funding from the Federal Government, State Government and Philanthropic Sources. The plan was to set up the co-located service within Footscray, until the board met with Brimbank City Council and a partnership was arranged whereby the centre would be placed within Sunshine.
Brimbank City Council purchased in Mid 2004, the [99-year] leashold over the Bulk Store, the last remaining building on the HV McKay Harvester site, for the purpose of creating a centre for young people in Sunshine. The Youth Junction Inc. board undertook to outfit the Visy Cares Hub and have a sub-lease for the next fifteen years.
