Fundraising Breakfast

Fundraising Breakfast Attendees

This morning, over 100 people with a keen interest in supporting the Youth of West came together to celebrate the International Youth Day Fundraising Event.

The morning started with an amazing rap from the master of ceremonies MC Yung Philly, followed by an inspiring talk by guest speaker Tristan Miller, who regaled stories of his feats of human endurance.

Tristan has just returned to Melbourne after completing 52 marathons in 52 weeks, spanning 42 countries and seven continents. His feat included ultra-marathons in South Africa and Mongolia of up to 100 kilometers each, and another marathon through the unforgiving plains of Antarctica. He turned to running six years ago as a way of combating depression after losing his job, divorcing his wife and fighting alcohol dependency.

Then it got down to business, with three very inspirational young people telling their stories of how The Youth Junction Inc. had assisted them overcome adversity and triumph. A range of donated memorabilia and prizes were auctioned off and sold in raffles including paintings, football jumpers, a signed cricket bat, movie passes, hotel stays and more.

The fundraising event raised $16,780 for disadvantaged youth living in Melbourne’s Western Region!
